A bit of a world traveler, she was born in Hawaii, grew up in California and Washington, and then lived throughout the US and Germany before finally settling down in the Colorado Rockies. Although Karen enjoyed drawing horses as a kid, she didn’t pick up a paintbrush until a spring break painting night with her nieces in 2017. Now she spends most days in her Tabernash studio, in the never-ending pursuit of capturing light on canvas. Her choice of subjects is varied and influenced by the beauty of the landscape here in Colorado, her love of horses and riding, and growing up as a rural farm kid.
