3 Ways to Play in Winter Park During Spring Break
Spring break is just around the corner, which means many families will be heading to Colorado's high country for vacation. Of course Winter Park has incredible downhill skiing and snowboarding. But there are also some fun - and often affordable - off-the-slope ways to fill spring break days.
Here are 3 of our top choices. Tubing & Sledding The Winter Park area boasts more tubing hills than any other Colorado destination. Some of the slopes even have lights to create an exhilarating experience after dark! The Coca-Cola® Tubing at Winter Park Resort is an epic tubing adventure with four lanes, a conveyor belt and a state-of-the-art warming structure, located just steps from the slopes of Winter Park Resort. Colorado Adventure Park is located just about five miles from Winter Park and offers tubing, sled rides, snowscoots and more. Fraser's Tubing Hill is groomed and lighted and even has a lift to get you to the top with ease. Grand Lake Nordic Center is an easy drive from Winter Park that offers free tubing and sledding. YMCA of the Rockies Snow Mountain Ranch has an affordable day pass that gets you access to not only the tubing hill, but also the other amenities (swimming pool, climbing wall, roller skating rink, cross-country skiing, ice skating and more!). Live like a local and enjoy the Town of Winter Park sledding hill at Rendezvous Event Center at Hideaway Park. Kids of all ages can ride the free hill. Sleds are available for check-out using the honor system. Ice Skating Stop by the ice skating rink at Cooper Creek Square for a free spin. Or check out the IceBox Skating Rink at the Fraser Valley Sports Complex. Another option is the Village at Winter Park Resort where free ice skating lessons are offered until mid-March. You can bring your own skates or rent at one of the nearby stores.
Indoor Fun At the hip new Foundry Cinema & Bowl in Winter Park movies, you can take in a movie, bowl a round or two, or just belly up to a delicious pizza pie! The Grand Park Community Recreation Center in Fraser offers an aquatic center that includes a 25-yard lap pool, hot tub, lazy river, water slide, and play structure for young children, a multi-sport gymnasium, gymnastic center, climbing wall, cardio/circuit training/free weight areas, fitness classes, whirlpool, sauna, steam room, and drop-in child care. Keep your kids learning with the three museums in the area - Cozens Ranch, Kauffman House or Pioneer Village Museum. Want to take in a fun-filled event when you're in Winter Park?
