There are many different campgrounds to choose from in the Winter Park, Fraser, Granby and Grand Lake area (otherwise known as the Sulphur Ranger District). Each campground offers something special. From primitive with limited services to full-service campgrounds that offer showers and boat ramps, you will find the perfect campground here in Grand County.

These campgrounds are all first-come, first-serve and may not always be open due to logging and river flow conditions. Please call the US Forest Service to confirm (970.887.4100). The cost for these campgrounds is $14/night and the maximum stay length is 14 days.
Robbers Roost Campground (elevation 9,826'): Robber's Roost is located 5 miles south of the town of Winter Park on the east side of Highway 40. Robber's Roost is quiet and very private. You will see lots of wildlife here! There are 11 campsites at Robber's Roost and they are all on a first-come, first-serve basis. Potable water is not available at Robber's Roost. The maximum spur length at Robbers Roost is 25 feet.
Idlewild Campground (elevation 9,000'): Idlewild is one of the most popular campgrounds in Grand County. It is situated on the Fraser River just south of the town of Winter Park on the Fraser River Trail (bike path). There are 24 campsites and they are all first-come, first-serve. Idlewild has pit toilets, fire grates, picnic tables and drinking water available.. It is a short walk or bike ride in to the town of Winter Park or to Winter Park Resort from the Idlewild Campground. This campground is ideal for Hideaway Park festival goers and those who like to be close to the action! The maximum spur length at Idlewild is 32 feet.
St. Louis Creek Campground (elevation 8,900'): St. Louis Creek Campground is located 4 miles southwest of the town in Fraser off of County Rd. 73. There are 16 campsites that are all first-come, first-serve. St. Louis Creek Campground sits on the St. Louis Creek (convenient, isn't it?) and has easy access to many incredible mountain bike and hiking trails that originate in the Experimental Forest area. The campground is less than 2 miles from the rodeo grounds and close to the town of Fraser. The campground has vault toilets, fire grates, picnic tables and drinking water. This is an excellent campground for the sports enthusiast! The maximum spur length at St. Louis Creek Campground is 32 feet.
Arapaho National Recreation Area (ANRA): Reservations can be made for the campsites in the ANRA. Sites can be reserved as late as five days in advance or as early as eight months in advance. These campsites are extremely popular for the 4th of July as they sit on right on Lake Granby. Maximum length of stay for these sites is 7 nights. Firewood is available for a fee.
Sunset Point Campground (elevation 8,300'): Sunset Point Campground is located off Highway 34 on Lake Granby. Sunset Point has 25 campgrounds with picnic tables and fire grates. The campsite has vault toilets, drinkable water and firewood available for a fee. This campsite sits right on Lake Granby and is close to both Grand Lake and Granby. Nightly rates range from $17 per night or $34 for doubles. Maximum spur length is 45'.
Arapaho Bay Campground includes Big Rock, Moraine and Roaring Fork Loops. Located 9 miles east of Highway 34 on CR 6, these sites consist of 84 campsites along lake Granby. There is a public boat ramp and the maximum spur length 42'.
Green Ridge Campground is located alongside Shadow Mountain Lake and has 78 campsites. Maximum spur length is 45'. Public boat ramp and dump station are available.
Stillwater Campground is located on Lake Granby off of Highway 34. There are 129 sites. Stillwater Campground has a public boat ramp, showers, electrical/water hookups and there is a dump station available. Maximum spur length is 45'.
Highway 125 and Williams Fork Area also have many campgrounds including Sawmill Gulch, Denver Creek, Horseshoe, South Fork and Sugarloaf campgrounds. All of these campgrounds are first-come, first-serve.
There are many undeveloped areas on National Forest land for camping. Before doing any dispersed camping make sure to obtain current information on fire danger and restrictions in the area. Under Colorado law, it is your responsibility to know if you are on private land. Choose your campsite based on impact; if you can tell that a site has been used before, make camp there instead of creating a new site. Use existing fire rings if you plan to have a fire and make sure that after the fire the area is cold to the touch before you leave! And we encourage you to please leave your campsite cleaner than you found it!
