About Our Area
Winter Park & The Fraser Valley is a year-round mountain destination resort in the heart of the Colorado Rocky Mountains with breathtaking scenery just 67 miles from Denver.
What makes our destination resort different from other Colorado Resorts?
Most importantly, it’s where outdoor enthusiasts will find a quality experience, no matter what their ability level.
Many skiers and snowboarders already know Winter Park for its winter playground, being it’s home to Winter Park Resort, More Than You Imagine® and the National Sports Center for the Disabled, the world’s largest disabled program. But beyond the ski area all the way to Rocky Mountain National Park, there is almost every type of outdoor recreation possible.
Our location, tucked against the Continental Divide, ensures dependable snow all winter long. Skiers are happy with two downhill resorts, learn-to-ski-and-ride parks, Mary Jane sized moguls for the die-hards, and four cross-country resorts with plentiful groomed tracks. Families love slipping, sliding and gliding on the regional tubing hills and skating rinks. Once-in-a-lifetime type activities also abound: back country snowcat ski trips, dog sled rides, hot air balloon tours and horse-drawn carriage rides.
Now don’t underestimate Winter Park in the summertime because of its name. There’s a great deal of us locals to testify they “came for the winter, but stayed for the summer.”
The hikers and bikers are in a mountain paradise with over 600 miles of trails to explore, dubbing the area Mountain Bike Capital USA™ for good reason. River rafting, fishing, golfing, boating, horseback riding and an all time favorite with kids of all ages…the longest alpine slide in Colorado ensure that all are able to pursue their passion, or perhaps find a new one.
The warmer weather also attracts over 200 exciting events, including marquee music festivals, run, bike and skate events to Winter Park.
If we haven’t given you enough reason to visit Winter Park & The Fraser Valley yet, there’s more…thanks to our community. Not only will you find friendly folks here, there’s a wide variety of affordable lodging, locally owned and operated services available from A to Z, over 60 dining and nightlife options to tantalize your taste buds and shopping from the Village of Winter Park to the towns of Winter Park and Fraser.
