Headwaters Center invites you to a presentation by Dave Schlichting, a retired public school teacher who has dedicated his career to creating and teaching curriculum in Astronomy and Space Science.

Astronomy is regarded as the first “science.” For thousands of years, humans studied the patterns and motion of objects in the sky and formulated explanations of their observations. In 1609, Galileo Galilei became the first to use the newly invented spyglass to study the heavens. 63 years later, Isaac Newton published the results of his experiments on the nature of light, opening a greater understanding of how the universe functions. Over the centuries, advancements in mathematics and technology brought humankind to the modern era of space travel.
