The Hike for Spencer is held in memory of Spencer Nelson who died nine years ago in a tragic climbing accident on the Maroon Bells. Spencer was an elite athlete for the Competition Center and a Division 1 Alpine racer for the University of Colorado. Since it’s inception nine years ago, the Hike for Spencer has raised over $350,000 for the Winter Park Ski Education Foundation which has been used to fund Competition Center Program fees and travel expenditures for youths who otherwise would not have been able to participate in the Winter Park Competition Center.

Our goal is to educate our community of the benefits of investing in our youth by helping them become successful individuals through participation in winter sports that emphasize integrity, tenacity, and sportsmanship. Register for hike and get more information. Pre-event! Big blowout with a concert on Friday, August 14 at the Headwaters Amphitheater at 6pm with PJ Olsson performing so it will be a big weekend!
