Winter Park & Fraser Chamber Announce 3 Ways to Take Summer Vacation “Sky High”

Colorado mountain town takes visitors up, up and away with zip lining, hot air ballooning, chairlift rides –

Winter Park, Colo. – The Winter Park & Fraser Chamber today announced the 3 best ways to take summer vacation to new heights in Colorado’s Favorite Playground. Sure, activities on the ground are fun. But for travelers who want to let their spirits soar this summer, Winter Park invites them to go up, up and away, three ways.

Hot Air Ballooning
The early morning hours are when the breezes are gentle and the atmosphere is most stable for hot air ballooning. Grand Adventure Balloon Tours takes flight from a Fraser launch site. Experience low-level contour flying to spot wildlife and nearly pick pine cones from treetops. At higher altitudes, the hot air balloon basket offers spectacular views of peaks in the Colorado Rockies, including Grand, Routt, Summit, Clear Creek and Gilpin. All flights are celebrated with a post-flight traditional champagne toast.
Zip Lining
Zip line tours offer visitors the opportunity to go high and fast! In fact, the ride can reach speeds of up to 40-miles per hour. At Devil’s Thumb Ranch Resort and Spa, there are five lines that encompass the Full Zip Line Tour. Or, choose to take just the longest zip line, the High Lonesome Line, to experience 1,600 feet of excitement. AVA takes guest to Idaho Springs or Granite to enjoy zip line courses that crisscross through beautiful alpine scenery, capped off by river views and snow-topped peaks. For either adventure, reservations are recommended.

Chairlift Rides
Chairlifts aren’t just for getting skiers and boarders to the top of the mountain in the wintertime, at least not in Winter Park! Here, chairlifts are a four-season affair, carting adventure-seekers to the mountaintops for alpine sliding, hiking, biking and more. Winter Park Resort’s Zephyr Express Chairlift provides access to North America’s fastest-growing bike park, Trestle Bike Park during the summer. Those who are not interested in the downhill bike experience can simply take a scenic ride on the lift to the top of the mountain for some photo opps. Colorado’s longest alpine slide, also located at Winter Park Resort, is accessed by a lift, as well. Granby Ranch offers free chairlift rides (typically Wednesday through Sunday in the summertime) to access many miles of hiking and biking trails without having to fight the uphill climb.
