  Winter Park & Fraser Chamber Announce New Tourism-Related Businesses, Activities

–‘Colorado’s Favorite Playground’ features new activities, restaurants, inn–

Winter Park, Colo. – The Winter Park & Fraser Chamber today announced its new businesses and activities that travelers will want to check out on their next trip to the area. Here’s a look at what’s new in Colorado’s Favorite Playground.

  • High Lonesome Lodge & Barn, Devil’s Thumb Ranch Resort & Spa – 3530 County Road 83, Tabernash (www.devilsthumbranch.com)
    Continuing its focus on sustainability and eco-friendly pampering while accommodating the needs and interests of guests, corporate groups and bridal parties, Devil’s Thumb Ranch Resort & Spa recently opened the new High Lonesome Lodge, Barn, Pavilion and Wine Grotto. Located 15 minutes west of Winter Park off US Highway 40, the new 50,000-square-foot lodge and adjoining facilities enable the ranch to accommodate and host up to 350 guests at any one time. Additional amenities and services include the nature-based Ranch Creek Spa, two sustainably focused restaurants and Wine Spectator Award wine lists, and year-round recreation options on 6,000 acres of privately owned wilderness that include zip-lining, horseback riding, stand-up paddle boarding, hiking, mountain biking, fly-fishing, cross country skiing and more.

    This newly renovated property offers spacious and modern rooms with king or two queen beds. Every room features breathtaking mountain views, a mini-fridge and microwave. Hotel amenities include indoor pool/spa, outdoor fire pit, 24-hour laundry, and a state-of-art fitness center. The business center is available 24 hours a day, making it easy to stay connected. High-speed wireless/wired internet is available throughout the hotel. Guests can start the day off right by enjoying a complimentary hot Express Start™ breakfast bar and Smart Roast™ coffee, served daily.

    Conveniently located in the heart of Winter Park, this new inn is within walking distance to shops, Hideaway Park, restaurants, entertainment and is on the shuttle line to nearby Winter Park Resort. Besides a great location, guests of Vasquez Creek Inn enjoy complimentary European-style continental breakfast and easy access to the on-site restaurant, Volario’s (more below). Each cozy room features its own bathroom with an oversized shower and hair dryer, television and cable TV, iron/ironing board, coffee maker, and alarm clock with iPod/iPhone dock. Most of the rooms have a king-sized bed, although one features a queen and a twin.

    This new bistro-style restaurant sits on the main floor of Vasquez Creek Inn and offers a made-from-scratch menu of pizzas, pastas, cheeses, charcuterie and other European-influenced dishes. Designed as a gathering place for friends and family, a daily happy hour, extensive wine list and private dining room add to the classic bar, outside patio and open air kitchen ambiance. The owners and culinary team hail from nearby Devil’s Thumb Ranch Resort & Spa, bringing a team of hospitality industry leaders to create memorable dining experiences.
  • DaVinci’s – 47 Cooper Creek Way, Winter Park (www.davinciwp.com)
    Chef/owner Leonid Shukan collaborated with executive chef Brandon Park on a unique fine dining restaurant with a casual atmosphere. Trained under the Armando Brothers, Sergio Romero, Mark Tarbel, Matt Fenton and Jennifer Jasinski, Shukan and Park have poured their love and passion for classical French and new-world techniques into a modern European cuisine. Each dish is delicately balanced and elegantly plated to provide both a visually and tastefully stunning experience. New this summer, patio dining that seats 32 people and heaters for when the sun sets.
  • Lunch Rock Restaurant – Winter Park Resort (www.winterparkresort.com)
    Winter Park Resort will add a new Lunch Rock Restaurant atop the Mary Jane Territory. The new restaurant will be completed by Christmas of this year, just in time for Winter Park Resort’s 75th anniversary celebration. Winter Park Resort’s largest on-mountain building construction in over 25 years, Lunch Rock Restaurant will be a state-of-the-art facility utilized year-round, with a 150-seat heated deck, 250-seat indoor restaurant, bar, and hydration station all focusing on Colorado themes. At 16,000 square-feet, the new restaurant will be over five times larger than the previous structure at Lunch Rock, which was built in 1985. At 11,200 feet in elevation Lunch Rock Restaurant will boast amazing views of Parry Peak, James Peak, Parsenn Bowl, the Fraser Valley and the Continental Divide, which Winter Park Resort lovers have enjoyed from Lunch Rock for generations. Most importantly, the new facility will stay true to the tradition of Mary Jane, one of Colorado’s most iconic destinations.
  • Hideaway Park Brewery – 78927 US Highway 40, Winter Park
    Winter Park’s new craft nano brewery is located in the heart of downtown, offering those who are in town to enjoy Mountain Bike Capital USA™, Winter Park Resort or one of the fun festivals that Winter Park is famous for, an opportunity to belly up for some tasty après-activity refreshments. Fittingly, the bar is decorated with some up-cycled wood that was originally used as a snow fence in and around Colorado.
  • Basement at Strip & Tail – 78295 US Highway 40, Winter Park
    This lounge and cocktail bar offers themed nights of Karaoke, open mic and live music. Stop by, and maybe you could be the next caricature drawing to be added to the wall of fame! Light food is served until 2 a.m.
  • Snow Tubing at YMCA of the Rockies Snow Mountain Ranch – 1101 County Road 53, Granby (www.snowmountainranch.org)
    Traditionally a wintertime activity, Snow Mountain Ranch has transformed snow tubing into a four-season sport by offering a Snowflex® tubing slope. This is only the third tubing hill of its kind in the U.S., and the first ever in Colorado.
