Stay & Play for the Rocky Mountain National Park’s 100-Year Anniversary

Rocky Mountain National Park is celebrating its first century, and we’d like to invite you to celebrate the wilderness and wonder of it all on the west side!

Rocky Mountain National Park has over 60 peaks that tower above 12,000 feet, trout-filled streams and rivers flowing through mountain meadows, and trails to challenge every level of hiker. Stay and play in the nearby breathtaking mountain villages of Grand Lake or Winter Park with these upcoming centennial events and special activities this Labor Day Weekend.

Centennial Rededication Event. Sept. 4, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Glacier Basin Campground, Rocky Mountain National Park

Take the shuttle from Estes Park Fair Grounds starting at 9 a.m. to be part of the rededication of RMNP for the next 100 years. Family-friendly activities, music and speakers will be a few event highlights.

Zoppè Circus. Sept. 4-7. Grand Park, Fraser, Colo.

A much-loved attraction returns to add to the festivities! The Zoppè Circus brings European flair to the 100thanniversary weekend. Purchase tickets at the link above to ensure your seat as the lights come up. Your entire family will be charmed by this show’s Old World style.

Whiskey & Wings Grillfest. Sept. 6, 12-4 p.m. The Village at Winter Park Resort

After a day spent in the National Park, why not sample scrumptious local offerings at the Whiskey & Wings Grillfest? Sample tickets can be purchased on-site. It’s just one more reason to celebrate the region!

Tombstone Tales. Sept. 6. Grand Lake Cemetery, Rocky Mountain National Park

Grab the shuttle in Grand Lake and travel to Grand Lake Cemetery (located inside Rocky Mountain National Park) to meet historic characters who helped make RMNP what it is today.

Tour Holzwarth Historic Site. Through Sept. 7, 10:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Rocky Mountain National Park

A favorite of park visitors, this group of 1920s cabins was the site of RMNP’s West Side Rededication on September 3. Park visitors can also tour the well-restored ranch throughout the weekend to learn how Prohibition, the building of Trail Ridge Road and good old-fashioned grit helped create a dude ranch that operated for more than 40 years.

Take the Grand Lake Then & Now Tour

Start at the Grand Lake Chamber and Visitor Center for a self-guided tour of historic locations that travelers to RMNP’s west side have been frequenting over the Park’s 100-year history.

It’s hard to imagine an area more spectacularly rich in history and natural wonders than Rocky Mountain National Park’s west side. Hike or ride a mountain trail, learn how area pioneers beat the odds, celebrate 100 years of conservation and then come home to comfortable lodging in Winter Park or Grand Lake, Colorado. It won’t be the same celebration without you!
