Mountain Golf in Grand County

Grip it and Rip it

There really are endless ways to play in Colorado’s Favorite Playground, with everything from hiking and biking to rafting and fishing to our exciting summer festivals and concerts. In addition to all that fun stuff, did you know we’re one of the top golf destinations in Colorado? With four great golf courses in our area, we’ve even come to be known as a mountain golf mecca. Come enjoy a round of mountain golf in Grand County! But first, what's so great about mountain golf? Lots of things, actually. Aside from the simply stunning mountain views (seriously, the scenery alone makes it worth it), your drives really do fly farther! In the thin air of our area’s high elevations, golf balls are able to travel even greater distances, so you can really go for that personal record. In addition, our mild mountain summers offer some wonderful weather for a game of golf. The mountainous landscapes of each course create truly unique, and uniquely challenging, golf course terrain.

The Pole Creek Golf Club is just a few minutes from downtown Winter Park in nearby Tabernash. Pole Creek features no less than 27 holes of challenging mountain golf, with the awards and recognition to back it up: Pole Creek has been voted the number 1 mountain golf course for two years running by Colorado Avid Golfer Magazine; voted best course in the Rocky Mountains by Zagat; when it opened it was even voted the best new public course in America.

The Granby Ranch Resort features a fine golf course as well, in addition to the resort’s summertime biking, fishing, and winter skiing opportunities. The front 9 at Golf Granby Ranch is tucked into the valley right along the Fraser River, with the back 9 meandering through meadows and mountainsides.
The Grand Elk Golf Club is also located in Granby. Grand Elk is Grand County’s only “Heathland” style course, which is a unique design inspired by the courses of the British Isles. Each hole is integrated across the open rolling terrain and low-lying brush of the mountain valley.'

The Grand Lake Golf Course is located in nearby Grand Lake, just a stone’s throw from Rocky Mountain National Park. This course features beautifully maintained fairways and greens that are built right into the area’s aspen groves and lodgepole pine forests. Elk, moose, and other wildlife can often be spotted around the Grand Lake Golf Course as well.
For the most memorable mountain golfing, think Colorado’s favorite Playground. We're also located less than two hours from Denver, which makes us an ideal day trip destination for a mountain golf getaway. Of course, golf is just one way to play in Winter Park & Grand County, with so many other mountain activities and events to boot.
