Town of Winter Park Announces Concept for Permanent Stage at Hideaway Park and Open House for Public Input
Winter Park, Colo. – In 2008, the Hideaway Park Events Space in downtown Winter Park was created. A goal of this project was to create a unique sense of identity reflecting the character of Winter Park, as well as to further develop the community’s main winter sledding hill and summer amphitheater event space. Details for Hideaway Park express the theme of Rivers and Mountains. This theme focuses on the various elements, forms and colors found in the unique natural area surrounding the Town of Winter Park and Fraser Valley. Seasonal and musical elements were also integrated to create fun gathering and play areas to be discovered and enjoyed.
In the spring of 2014, the Town of Winter Park contracted with Semple Brown Design to create a design for a permanent stage in Hideaway Park that would accommodate the existing uses of the summer concert and event series while allowing future programs to grow in the coming years. In addition, the stage was designed to provide final finishes to the construction that began in 2008. After spending time with stakeholders, town council members and experiencing the summer event operations this past season, Semple Brown Design proposed construction concept has been released.
The stage concept includes a permanent, year round usage, stage with design elements that work in concert with the existing finishes in Hideaway Park. The aesthetic design of the stage emulated the curving natural imagery of the Winter Park area including mountain lines, ski tracks and our world-class moguls that are distinguishable in the Winter Park area. Along with the stage design the project includes a year round multi-use space, additional loading and parking space and upgrades to accommodate year round usage.
The Town of Winter Park will be holding an open house on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 from 4:00 – 6:30 pm at Winter Park Town Hall for public input on the design concept. A short presentation explaining the project will take place at 4:30pm and again at 5:45pm. The Winter Park Town Council is seeking input from the public before construction plans are initiated.
